PHOENIX – Before the kids head back to school, make the most of your summer vacation by spending some time with Arizona State Parks & Trails. There are activities for all age groups and every interest!
To cool off during the hot summer days, escape to one of our 10 lake or river parks, where you can spend the day floating, paddling, or boating. With RV and tent camping available, you can set up your site and spend the day on the water.
Take a trip to Lyman Lake State Park near St. Johns and explore this 1,500-acre reservoir with no boat size restrictions. Walleye fishing has been very good at this lake, so you can catch your dinner and head back to camp in the cool mountain air.
There’s no place like the Colorado River during summer! Visit Buckskin Mountain State Park for a relaxed pace, tons of park activities, and waterfront camp sites. Grab your tube and float in the cool water, or head out on your boating adventure. There are even amazing trails if you feel like a sunrise hike!
For a quick escape from the Phoenix heat, head up to Dead Horse Ranch State Park. Your kids will love the new playground – with zipline – and you can revel in the green canopy of trees, canoe or kayak, or try your luck fishing. For a fantastic day trip, visit Tonto Natural Bridge State Park and marvel at the size of this natural wonder. Spend the day hiking and picnicking in this beautiful Payson-area park.
